Both myjusticecake and I have been out of town since Thursday and unfortunately had no time to record an episode this week. We’ll be back to our regularly schedule next week. Sorry everyone! We’ll be back soon!
Knickerweasels is a weekly fancast by hosts flutiebear and myjusticecake on all things Dragon Age and fandom. We’ve taken our ongoing conversation to the internet in the hopes that some of you will find it interesting, amusing, or perhaps even want to join in.
Episode #16: “Can You Be a Feminist And a Gamer?”
This week we’re joined by the ever delightful cypheroftyr to discuss fandom and feminism, and how best we can reconcile the two. What does it mean to be a feminist in fandom, or in the greater gaming community as a whole? Which battles are worth fighting? Do we have a responsibility to participate in less-than-safe public spaces, so that our voices can be heard?
Also: Is it more accurate to compare Velanna to Fenris—or Oghren? Can offline social anxieties influence how we relate to female characters in-game? Are cosplayers only interested in the male gaze? Plus much, much more.
Note: Sadly, a technical issue occurred wherein Flutie’s entire audio track this week was lost to the Seven Hells. It took some serious blood magic to recover what little we could, so please forgive the poor audio quality whenever she’s on mic. We’ve done our best this week to make her intelligible.

Previous episode: “Of Languages, Ladies and Lovely Voices”
This week, Flutie has run into super-duper technical issues in the editing room (not to mention an hour of pants-wetting terror over possibly losing the entire episode). Our grues are working to resolve the problem as quickly and deliciously as possible, but unfortunately, the show will be a few hours late.
Please take this opportunity to panic until the episode is posted.

Episode #15: “Of Languages, Ladies and Lovely Voices”
Flutiebear returns to the show this week, and we finally, finally take some voice questions! At the top of the show, we explore the reasons why fandom tends to overlook female characters in favor of their male counterparts, while in the second half, we dig into the pros and cons of how spoken and written languages are implemented in Dragon Age 2.
Thank you a thousand times over to svenharel, historymiss and fragilespark for sending in audio questions! As you can tell, we love your voices, and your comments!

Episode #14: “Trash It Like A Hotel Room”
This week flutiebear abandoned the show for adventures in New Orleans. Luckily, the lovely and talented missl0nelyhearts agreed to fill in. We discuss the origins of our fanlives, what happens when a new fandom seduces you, and lots more.
